MAIDÁN, maidane, s.n. Teren deschis, loc viran situat în interiorul sau la marginea unei localităţi. ♢ expr. (pop.) A scoate (sau a ieşi) la maidan = a scoate sau a ieşi la vedere; a (se) arăta, a (se) face cunoscut. A bate maidanul ( sau maidanele) = a-şi pierde vremea hoinărind sau jucându-se; a hoinări, a vagabonda. – Din tc. meydan, maydan.
