MAGNÉTIC, -Ă, magnetici, -ce, adj. (Despre forţe, fenomene) Care se referă la magnet sau la magnetism; (despre corpuri) care este feromagnetic, care poate fi magnetizat. ♢ Câmp magnetic = stare fizică particulară a unui spaţiu în care se exercită forţe magnetice; p.ext. spaţiul respectiv. Fluid magnetic = forţă prin care se explică, în ştiinţele oculte, fenomenele telepatice şi hipnotice. Pol magnetic = a) fiecare dintre cele două puncte sau regiuni de la extremitatea unui magnet; b) fiecare dintre cele două puncte ale globului pământesc către care se îndreaptă capetele unui ac magnetic. ♦ fig. Care exercită o influenţă profundă sau o atracţie irezistibilă; care magnetizează. – Din fr. magnétique, germ. magnetisch.
