TÍFLĂ, tifle, s.f. Gest batjocoritor făcut cu palma întinsă, cu degetul mare apropiat de vârful nasului şi cu celelalte degete desfăcute şi agitate; bleandă2. ♢ expr. A da (cuiva) cu tifla ori a da (sau a arunca cuiva) o tiflă = a) a face gestul descris mai sus; b) a dispreţui, a desconsidera, a sfida; a renunţa cu dispreţ la ceva. – Din ngr. tifla.

tíflă (-le), s.f. – 1. Gest batjocoritor constînd din apropierea degetului mare de vîrful nasului mişcînd în acest timp celelalte degete. – 2. (înv.) Noroc, belşug, prosperitate. ngr. τύφλα, cu primul sens (Roesler 577; Cihac, II, 706; Tiktin; Pascu, II, 56; Candrea; Gáldi 261). Sensul al doilea se explică prin semnificaţia ngr. "orbire, halucinaţie".
