SEXTÁNT, sextanţi, s.m. Instrument optic format dintr-un arc gradat egal cu o şesime de cerc, prevăzut cu două oglinzi şi cu o lunetă mică, care se întrebuinţează la măsurarea distanţei unghiulare dintre două puncte şi se foloseşte în astronomie, navigaţie şi aviaţie.
