SECÚND, -Ă, secunzi, -de, num. ord., adj., s.n. 1. num. ord., adj. Care vine imediat după primul în ordinea locului, a timpului sau a rangului; al doilea. ♢ Ofiţer secund (şi substantivat, m.) = ofiţer care îndeplineşte funcţia de adjunct al unui căpitan de vas. Arbitru secund (şi substantivat, m.) = arbitru care ajută pe arbitrul principal în conducerea unei competiţii sportive. 2. s.n. Voce care acompaniază o voce primă şi care se găseşte pe locul al doilea în executarea unei melodii cântate din gură sau dintr-un instrument. – Din fr. second, lat. secundus.
