scrábă (-be), s.f. – Pantof vechi. – var. şcrabă, scroa(m)bă. Origine incertă. Ar putea avea legătură cu rut. šcrab (Bogrea, Dacor., IV, 849); mai probabil este o deformare a sl. skrava › sfară, v. aici; în acest caz ar fi o simplă var. a lui sfîrloagă şi ar exprima ideea de "obiect în formă de barcă". Pare cuvînt identic cu scrab(ă), s.f. (condroniu, Melampyrum nemorosum); scradă, s.f. (o anumită plantă); toate sînt cuvinte mold. Der. scrombăi, vb. (Mold., a scîlcia); scredi, vb. refl. (Olt., a se scîlcia); sfriji (var. sfreji), vb. refl. (a se zbîrci, a se usca, a slăbi), probabil în loc de *screzi, de la scradă, pl. scrăzi (după Cihac, II, 342, din sl. chyra "debilitate"; după Scriban, din vrej).
