SARMAŢIÁN, -Ă, sarmaţieni, -e, s.n., adj. 1. s.n. Ultimul etaj al miocenului din sud-estul Europei, reprezentat în ţara noastră prin straturi de nisipuri şi de argile (de care sunt legate cele mai multe zăcăminte de gaze naturale). 2. adj. Care aparţine sarmalţianului (1), privitor la sarmaţian. [pr.: -ţi-an] – Din fr. sarmatien.
