PAROXÍSM, paroxisme, s.n. Intensitate maximă, punct culminant la care ajunge o senzaţie, un sentiment, o stare, un proces, o acţiune în desfăşurare etc. ♢ loc. adv. Până la paroxism = în cel mai înalt grad, foarte tare. ♦ (Rar) Surescitare, tulburare extremă. – Din fr. paroxysme, germ. Paroxysmus.
