NESTORIÁN, -Ă, nestoriéni, -e, adj., s.m. 1. adj. Care aparţine nestorienilor (2). 2. s.m. Membru al unei secte religioase care susţinea că trebuie să se distingă în Isus Christos două persoane, aşa cum se disting două naturi (umană şi divină); doctrină condamnată de biserica creştină bizantină în 431, fapt care a dus imediat la separarea nestorienilor de aceasta din urmă, concentrându-se în Persia şi supravieţuind până în prezent îndeosebi în Asia Mică. (cf. fr. nestorien, engl. nestorian < Nestorius (n.pr.) = patriarh al Constantinopolului din 428 până în 431, când a fost acuzat de erezie la sinodul din Efes, a propovăduit doctrina după care natura umană şi cea divină a lui Isus sunt una şi aceeaşi ca acţiune, dar diferite ca persoană, doctrină care s-a răspândit ulterior în Asia) [şi MW]
