MALÉIC, -Ă, maleici, -ce, adj. (chim.; în sintagmele) Acid maleic = acid obţinut prin oxidarea (oxida) benzenului, folosit în industria textilă şi chimică la fabricarea uleiurilor. Anhidridă maleică = anhidridă obţinută prin încălzirea acidului maleic, folosită în industria chimică. [pr.: -le-ic] – Din fr. maléique.
