JUSTÍŢIE s.f. 1. Totalitatea organelor de jurisdicţie dintr-un stat; ansamblul legilor şi al instanţelor judecătoreşti; sistemul de funcţionare a acestor instanţe. 2. Una dintre formele fundamentale ale activităţii statului, care constă în judecarea pricinilor civile sau penale şi în aplicarea pedepselor prevăzute de lege. ♢ expr. A chema (sau a se prezenta) în faţa justiţiei = a cita (sau a se prezenta) la judecată. 3. Dreptate, echitate. – Din fr. justice, lat. justitia.
