HIDROLOGÍE s.f. Ştiinţă care studiază proprietăţile generale ale apelor de la suprafaţa scoarţei terestre, legile generale care dirijează procesele din hidrosferă, influenţa reciprocă dintre hidrosferă, atmosferă, litosferă şi biosferă, precum şi prognoza evoluţiei elementelor hidrologice, în vederea folosirii lor raţionale în economie. – Din fr. hydrologie.
