GEOPOTENŢIÁL, -Ă I adj. cotă geopotenţială a unui punct = număr reprezentând forţa necesară pentru ridicarea unei mase de 1 g de la nivelul mării până la acel punct. II. s. n. potenţialul forţei de gravitaţie a Pământului. (< fr. géopotentiel, engl. geopotential)
