EXPONÉNT, -Ă, exponenţi, -te, subst. 1. s.m. şi f. Persoană sau grup social care reprezintă şi apără o idee, un curent etc.; reprezentant. 2. s.m. (mat.) Semn în cifre sau în litere scris sus, cu caractere mai mici, la dreapta unui număr sau a unei mărimi matematice, pentru a arăta puterea la care se ridică acestea. – Din germ. Exponent, lat. exponens, -ntis.
