ŢIMÍR, ţimire, s.n. 1. (înv. şi reg.) Emblemă care serveşte drept semn distinctiv al unei familii nobile, al unui oraş, al unei corporaţii sau membrilor ei, unei ţări etc. 2. Denumire dată în evul mediu, în ţările române, călăuzei şi însoţitorului oficial al unui străin, mai cu seamă de la hotare până la curtea domnească. [var.: ţimáră s.f.] – Din magh. cimer.
