îngená (îngén, îngenát), vb. – A slăbi, a domoli, a reduce viteza. Origine necunoscută. După Bogrea, Dacor., III, 723, din lat. *ingenuāre "a îngenunchia", explicaţie incertă din punct de vedere semantic şi fonetic (cf. DAR). Cuvînt rar, în Olt. şi Munt.
