úimă (-me), s.f. – Tumoare purulentă. – var. udmă, Maram. moimă. Origine incertă. Dacă s-ar porni de la ultima var., e posibil să fie vorba de un der. de la rădăcina expresivă mom-, cf. momîie, mămăruţă, mămăligă, momiţă, toate cu sensul de "bolfă, ridicătură". Miklosich, Lexicon, 1944, preferă să se pornească de la sl. ujmati "a sustrage", cf. uimi. În general se porneşte de la udmă, pentru a se ajunge la gr. οἴδημα, oἰδμα (Tiktin; Diculescu, Elementele, 477; Candrea, după Cihac, II, 710, din gr. ὄγϰωμα); dar această var. pare dubioasă şi oricum der. este dificilă fonetic. Pentru repartiţia var., cf. ALR, I, 113.
