SONÓR, -Ă, sonori, -e, adj. 1. Care produce, prin vibrare, sunete (puternice); care răsună sau face să răsune. 2. (Adesea adverbial) Care are un sunet plăcut, armonios (şi pătrunzător). 3. Care amplifică sunetele, care are rezonanţă. 4. (Despre consoane) Care este rostit prin vibrarea coardelor vocale, glota fiind închisă; fonic. 5. (Despre filme cinematografice) Însoţit de vorbire şi de muzică. ♦ (Substantivat, n.) Partea sonoră (5) a unui film cinematografic sau de televiziune. 6. fig. Important, cu răsunet, renumit; p. ext. pretenţios, emfatic. – Din fr. sonore, lat. sonorus.
